At the ripe age of 4, DJ had found his passion. Racing in go-carts on dirt, he was fierce, and that fire never passed. At the age of 16 he, was the youngest rookie in the 1994 CASCAR Super Series, NASCAR’s Canada affiliate. He entered the season with the goal of finishing every race, and actually never finished worse than fifteenth. D.J. turned 16 on July 15, 1993, and made his driving debut the following night at Delaware Speedway, winning the first race he entered.
During his first full season, D.J. competed in the CASCAR Late Model Division at Delaware Speedway, as well as the CASCAR Eastern and National Series. He won his first Delaware feature, one week after turning 17, and finished sixth overall in the final points standings, and was awarded Rookie of the Year.

*1995 He continued to flourish and won the CASCAR Eastern Most Improved Driver, CASCAR National Sports Person-of-the-Year Award along with two wins at Ottawa and Quebec, while finishing 6th points
*1996 Was an outstanding season for Kennington as he captured the Castrol Cup Hard Charger Award, his first CASCAR Super Series feature win at Ottawa, CASCAR Sportsman Delaware Championship, and the Sandy Harrison Media Award
*1997 D.J was on track again in the CASCAR Super Series finishing 3rd in points with two wins at Cayuga and Mosport and won 11 ACT Late Model Series, and 6 pole positions.
*1998 Kennington finished third in the Eastern Super Series setting two poles, one in Cayuga and one in Edmonton - along with the track record, Won the Quebec Sportsman Series Championship, winning five of the six poles and won the 300 lap Sportsman final in St. Eustache.
*1999 D.J. raced in the CASCAR Eastern series where he captured 2 poles at St Estache and Delaware, with a win Barrie Speedway. He finished 5th in points and raced in the ACT Late Models Series, grabbing 6 wins in just 8 attempts.
*2000 He finished 8th in the CASCAR Eastern Points, Seventh in the CASCAR National Points, finished third in Calgary National Race, won the CARI ALL 300 Sportsman Race at St. Eustache, along with 3 Pole Positions, 2 for track records and was the Top Mopar Driver in Eastern National Series. D.J also raced in the ACT Late Model Series capturing 3 wins in just 5 races
*2001 D.J. raced the CASCAR National Series finishing 2nd in points, with 3 wins, 3 poles, was the Top Mopar Driver, and raced in 8 ACT Late Models races with 2 wins. Performance Racing News awarded the “Up-and-Coming Stockcar Driver of the Year” to D.J. Kennington.
*2002 he continued in the CASCAR Nationals Series finishing 3rd in points, with1 win, and 1 pole. D.J captured the “Civic Award for Outstanding Achievements in Auto Racing” by the city of London, Ontario Canada. D.J also made his USAR Pro Hooters Cup debut at Riverside, PA. D.J. was running in 2nd with under 3 laps remaining when a cut tire regulated him to 15th.
*In 2003, D.J. raced in the CASCAR National Series, finishing 2nd in the points, with 2 wins, and 1 pole. Also in the USAR Pro Hooters Series, D.J. competed in 12 races and qualified for the “Champion Series”, where he captured 4 top 5’s and finished 3rd in Champions Race at Jennerstown.
*2004 Kennington continued in the CASCAR National Series, landing 5th in the points, with 2 poles. D.J. the competed in an ACT Late Model race in Lee NH. The $15,000 purse to win was a great accomplishment for D.J. as he raced in a 76-car field. D.J. competed in 12 races in the USAR Pro Hooters Cup, grabbing 5 top 5’s and finished 2nd at Jennerstown. D.J. finished 11th in the Championship points.
*2005 he competed in the CASCAR Nationals Series finishing 3rd in points, with 4 wins, and 3 in a row at Calgary, Vernon British Columbia, and Mosport and then capping the season with a win at the final in Kawartha. D.J. also captured three poles and was the Top Mopar Performer for the 4th consecutive year.
*D.J. once again competed in the 2006 CASCAR National Series finishing 6th in the championship points, winning one pole. He also won the ACT Late Model Series Championship at Delaware Speedway grabbing 5 wins along the way. D.J. made is NASCAR Busch Series debut at Memphis started 23rd finished 22nd for MacDonald Motorsports.
*In the 2007 CASCAR National Series, D.J. finished 2nd points, along with 2 poles, and 2 wins, and finished as the Top Mopar Performer once again. He competed in a limited ACT Late Models season, winning one race. D.J. continued his development in the NASCAR Busch Series competition in 11 races for MacDonald Motorsports.
*The Future for D.J. Kennington looks very bright. He improves every week at the racetrack as well. Kennington will double his NASCAR Nationwide Series campaign for 2008 and has the determination to place the team firmly as a contender each week. His ability on the track is endless as his professionalism is his mainstay. Though D.J. may have hundreds of race trophies in his office but what awards he is most proud of are the Sandy Harrison Media Award for his outstanding cooperation and professional conduct with the Motorsports media, and the Performance Racing News Reader's Choice Award for up-and-coming stock car racer of the year.
D.J’s professionalism is unmatched at his age and continues to impress the media and sponsors at every race. His dedication and desire to be a great role model as well as a great driver, provides him the foundation that will take him to great heights for years to come.
