MacDonald Motorsports and Hamilton Jr. earn top 15 in Dover

Dover, De- Bobby Hamilton Jr. who made his first start of the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series season started it off right with a 15th place finish in the AA Auto Warranty Dodge for MacDonald Motorsports.

The AA Auto Warranty Dodge rolled off from the 30th position in Saturday’s Heluva Good! 200 at the “Monster Mile” in Dover, Delaware.  Shortly, after the green flag waved Hamilton Jr. set pace toward the front of the field.  As the race wore on, Hamilton Jr. found the car to be loose on throttle on corner exit. Small adjustments on each pit stop by the David Ingram led crew got the AA Auto Warranty Dodge running better after each pit stop. The adjustments made and quick work by the crew enabled the team to run as high as 13th  place during the race.

In a race that saw a need for fresh tires, the AA Auto Warranty Dodge crew made their final pit stop with 40 laps to go. By the time the last 40 laps clicked off the board, Hamilton Jr. gave MacDonald Motorsports their best finish this season of 15th.

“We had a great car all day,” Hamilton Jr. stated. “The final restart hurt us as everyone in front of us was protective of their position. I have to thank MacDonald Motorsports and AA Auto Warranty for giving me the opportunity to race this weekend at one of my favorite tracks,” a jubilant Hamilton Jr. stated.

“These guys worked day and night this past week to get the car ready for Dover,” team owner Randy MacDonald stated. “With our 15th place finish it just goes to show that we have the hardest working and most dedicated guys in the sport and I have to thank them for their effort,” MacDonald said.

MacDonald Motorsports looks to continue their momentum next weekend in Nashville, Tennessee at the Nashville Super Speedway. MacDonald Motorsports currently sits 23rd in owners points following the race at the “ Monster Mile”.   Fans can tune into ESPN2 beginning at 7:30 pm Saturday June 6th as they race under the lights in one of the most exciting and thrilling races  of the season.
