Hamilton Jr. and MacDonald fight adversity in Kentucky

Sparta, Kentucky- Bobby Hamilton Jr. making his third start behind the wheel of the Creation Museum  Dodge fought adversity to wind up 27th in Saturday’s Meijer 300 at the Kentucky Speedway.

When the green flag waved Hamilton Jr. set pace from his 17th starting position making it up to 13th by lap 9 of the 200 lap race.  However, during a set of pit stops all the track position gained was lost when NASCAR caught the Creation Museum team speeding down pit road. Luckily, the team wasn’t the only team getting caught during the night which helped them gain positions after each pit stop. “We had to adjust our pit road RPM every stop,” Bobby Hamilton Jr. said. “Luckily, we made the most of each opportunity,” Hamilton Jr. continued

Throughout the middle of the race Hamilton Jr. reported to crew chief David Ingram that the car was tight from the center of corner off. “ We made track bar adjustments each stop and got closer to the feel that Bobby was looking for,” Ingram stated.  After getting caught speeding on Pit Road for 2nd time during green flag pit stops, the Creation Museum team learned that 4th gear was jammed in the car. “Its part of racing,” Hamilton Jr. said.  Hamilton Jr. and the Creation Museum Dodge fought adversity and climbed all the way back up to the 19th position before cutting a tire down with 5 laps to go only to finish 27th after the checkered flag waved.

“It was a great effort by everyone tonight,” team owner Randy MacDonald stated. “I have to thank all the guys because they kept us in the race even after the late race misfortune,” MacDonald continued.

Heading into next weekend’s race at the famed Milwaukee Mile, the MacDonald Motorsports team currently sits 23rd in owners points only 118 points from  the Top 20 in points.  Fans can catch the MacDonald Motorsports Dodge hit the  Milwaukee Mile beginning at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Saturday Night.
